Mold in your crawl space or attic can make you sick.  To ensure your home air is healthy with no mold issues, you’ll need an experienced mold removal provider…that’s where Crawl Pros comes in to play.

You may not be sure you have mold in your home, but here are some signs it may be present:

– visible mold growth on walls, dry wall, studs or concrete
– members of your household have symptoms such as evident coughing, eye irritation, nasal congestion, sneezing  or sore throats
– recent heavy rains or other water damage have left puddles or standing water in or around your crawl space
– musty odors or smells

Mold can build up in a home crawl space or attic via standing water, humidity build up or from moist air trapped in the home.  Once present, mold spores can penetrate a home in as little as 48 hours.

The most dangerous mold, and very common strain in the Pacific Northwest is black mold (stachybotrys.)  Toxic black mold causes serious symptoms and health problems such as mental impairment, breathing problems, damage to internal organs and sometimes even death.

If you believe you have mold in your home you should contact a service professional, such as Crawl Pros, who is experienced in taking the precautions necessary to remove the mold from your home.

The Mold Removal Process

The DIY Method

If you find mold in your home you may think you can perform the mold removal process yourself.  In some cases mold can be removed from hard surfaces by a thorough cleaning with commercial products, soap and water, or a bleach solution.

This is often not advisable since if mold is not removed properly it will return.  Further, it is best to contain the area where mold is to be removed and to use an air scrubber to ensure mold spores do not spread throughout the home’s air.  Most homeowners do not have the expertise or know-how to perform mold removal properly and safely.

The Crawl Pros Professional Mold Removal Method

Crawl Pros’ mold removal process ensures your home is protected by isolating the contaminated area before we begin work.  We install and seal temporary 6 mil polyethylene sheeting in the area to prevent mold spores from traveling to other areas of the house.

We then install a negative air pressure fan and hose to draw mold contaminants from your attic or crawl space as we conduct the mold removal process.

To remove the mold spores we use a soda blasting technique to “sand blast” the moldy areas with high pressure air and baking soda. We use baking soda because it is safe, non-toxic and great alternative to the harsh chemicals sometimes used by other companies to remove mold.

After we safely remove the mold we spray on an anti-microbial natural water base solution to ensure the mold does not grow back on the surface.
